Cub Sport

Cub Sport are an independent pop group from Brisbane, Australia.

In 2016, the quartet released their debut album ‘This Is Our Vice’ and won over audiences internationally with their unique brand of emotionally-charged pop.

The record received worldwide acclaim, including airplay on Triple j, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6, BBC London and Amazing Radio as well as a swag of US stations such as KEXP and WXPN.

Break-out single “Come On Mess Me Up” caught the attention of The 1975's Matty Healy and scored Cub Sport an invitation to join the UK band for their 2016 Australian arena tour.

The pop-ballad proved to connect similarly across Australia and landed a much-coveted spot in triple j's hottest 100 coming in at #24 after high rotation airplay and receiving over 3,000,000+ streams on Spotify and 400,000+ YouTube views. With similar praise for singles “I Can’t Save You”and “Only Friend”, the success of the debut album saw the band tour The UK, Europe, North America and Canada as well as embarking on two sold-out headline tours of Australia.

Cub Sport were also voted 'Most Popular Group' at the 2017 Queensland Music Awards. Cub Sport wowed audiences with their performance of Kanye West's “Ultralight Beam” on triple j's breakfast radio segment ‘Like A Version’, earning them praise from the station, with some people saying it was the best of 2016. Musical successes aside, Cub Sport are keen humanitarians. In mid-2016 band members Tim and Sam came out as gay and in a relationship. Alongside out-and-proud guitarist/vocalist Zoe, the band use their platform to speak out against homophobia continually strive to develop and encourage a safe community on the band's social media channels as well as at shows.

Cub Sport are now launching into the next phase of their career with their sophomore album, ‘BATS’. The group has cemented themselves as one to watch internationally with lead single “O Lord” premiering with glowing reviews on The Fader and receiving similarly high praises from media outlets such as i_D and Pedestrian worldwide.

The gospel/RnB inspired pop anthem received full rotation on triple j and Radio 1 in the Netherlands alongside a host of US stations, racking up over 100,000 streams in a matter of days.

Largely recorded and produced at home by lead singer/songwriter Tim Nelson, the much-anticipated follow up record displays a new side of Cub Sport. While still deeply rooted in pop, the new album indulges soul and R&B influences, making for Cub Sport's most honest, intimate and sexiest release to date.
