Named “Best Dinner Show” in Los Angeles and Denver for four years running, The Dinner Detective serves up a tasty whodunit along with a four-course dinner at Embassy Suites Salt Lake/West Valley City. And since this comedic murder mystery is set in the present day, you’ll have no way of knowing whether someone at your table is just another guest or one of the talented cast of improvisers. In fact, everyone’s a suspect … including you. The event starts out with a reception featuring passed hors d’oeuvres, followed by the meal, which includes salad, choice of entree and dessert. Between courses you can expect plenty of murder, mayhem and hidden clues coming to light as you puzzle through the crime. The top sleuth even wins a prize package at the end of the evening — not to mention serious bragging rights.

The Elovaters sophomore album, Defy Gravity, dropped October 26, 2018 (Rootfire Cooperative) and debuted at #1 in the Billboard and iTunes Reggae charts. Two months later, it was voted people’s choice Album Of The Year 2018 by Surf Roots TV & Radio. Produced by Danny Kalb (Beck, Ben Harper, Willie Nelson, The Movement) and critically acclaimed, “Defy Gravity is simply on another level…intricate and nuanced, full of thought-provoking surprises.” The album marks yet another milestone in the band’s incredible rise from the south shore of Boston. Other highlights from 2018 include signing with Madison House agency in September, performing at Levitate Music Festival, Sugarloaf Reggae Festival, and direct support dates for The English Beat, and Badfish. The Elovaters are Jackson Wetherbee (lead vocal, rhythm guitar), John Alves (lead guitar), Nick Asta (drums), Matt Link (bass), Derrick Cabral (percussion), and Greg Nectow (keys). Their debut album, The Cornerstone, was recorded by Mike Caplan at the legendary Lion and Fox Studios in Washington D.C. in 2017. It reached #2 on the iTunes reggae chart and #9 on the Billboard Reggae Chart, and the band has been touring heavily in support of the album ever since, opening for the likes of Ziggy Marley, Stick Figure, The Movement, Easy Star Allstars, John Brown’s Body, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad and more.
With From the Sea, Gualala, California-based artist and producer Michal Menert and his band the Pretty Fantastics have crafted a musical salve for those suffering from the relentless stream of contemporary reality. The record churns at the intersection of jazz, hip-hop, and electronic music; following its own internal rhythm, it ebbs and flows between crystalline clarity and swirling opacity. Uplifting, yet laced with echoes of chaos and friction, From the Sea wraps itself around the listener like a Pacific coast shore break. Where the new and the old are reconciled, where powerful and meek, beautiful and tragic are one, exists Exmag. These musicians take many forms and use their driving, soulful fusion to bring you a celebration of extraordinary magnitude. Celestial harmonies and ancient rhythms take you on a journey neither here nor there, to explore the space in between.
